General Information and Real Estate Sales Statistics

Town Information

Needham is an interesting and varied town that has something for nearly everyone. There are some secluded estates along the Charles River, areas of grand new homes, and charming, old-fashioned neighborhoods. Wellesley was actually once part of Needham and separated in 1881.

Needham has a very bustling downtown, with many shops and restaurants as well as a local branch of the Beth Israel/Deaconess Medical Center. There is an outdoor public swimming pool built into Rosemary Lake, and many parks, playgrounds and ball fields offer exceptional family recreation.

The Needham public schools are considered among some of the best in the area. There are many opportunities for students to enjoy sports of all kinds. Needham’s annual Thanksgiving Day football game against Wellesley High School began in 1905 and is the oldest continuous rivalry of its kind in the country.
